Titanic's Bridge Area

The R.M.S. Titanic departs Southampton just after noon, Wednesday, April 10, 1912.

The Titanic reaches the open sea, departing from Queenstown, Ireland, April 11, 1912

Approximately 12:45 a.m., April 15, 1912 - Titanic fires a distress rocket.

At about 12:45 a.m., the first boats are leaving from the starboard side.

In this port profile, the ship is clearly down by the head.

A lifeboat pulls away from the starboard side as the great ship settles slowly into the sea.

Looking forward along the port side, after 1:00 a.m.

It is about ten minutes after two in the morning. The ship is beginning her final plunge, catching those working on Collapsible A off guard and washing them into the sea.

The ship's final plunge is continuing, the forward funnel is collapsing.

By about 2:15 a.m., the Titanic has reached the forty-five degree angle. Stresses mount on her midsection.

Moments later, as seen from the starboard side.

Moments later, the ship breaks in half, the lights extinguish. The end is near.

It is almost 2:20 a.m. The Titanic's stern begins its final plunge while hundreds cling to the ship for dear life.
